Job Description

The annual compensation range for the position is approximately $72,000- $77,000 annually. It is an on-site position in Bloomington, Indiana, with regular nights & weekends to meet the needs of the student population and supporting team.

The IU Foundation seeks its next Director of the IU Student Foundation (IUSF). This is a unique opportunity for a highly passionate leader who will embrace the traditions of the IUSF while guiding the organization forward with a sense of vision and strategy.

As Director, you will partner closely with your Associate Director to gather insights and data that translate into programmatic growth. You are responsible for daily operations while leading a cohort of next-generation leaders, Little 500 riders, Steering Committee & Riders Council members, and an alumni advisory board. Our team engages and mentors our IU Bloomington student body and IUSF student members to grow their leadership skillset, cultivate a lifetime of loyalty, and increase philanthropic support for IU and the future.

The successful candidate will be mission-driven, have a passion for developing student leaders, act as a mentor, have operational and marketing acumen, a strategic understanding of social media to promote programming to target demographics, and have enthusiasm for the ideas that students bring. You must have a passion for student philanthropy and a creative vision on how to engage the student population to create a culture of philanthropy.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s degree is preferred
  • Experience with higher education and student affairs highly preferred
  • Experience and/or understanding of fundraising at an annual or major gift level preferred

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Interpersonal skills and judgment suitable for exercising appropriate discretion and demeanor when dealing with employees, board members, and members of the public
  • Knowledge and practice of student development theory, counseling, and advising, and issues related to working with traditional college students
  • Experience working with student organizations, program planning and implementation, training, and advising
  • Must be able to work with and mentor students to develop skills and create engagement that leads to further loyalty
  • Must be able to exercise good judgment in the handling of confidential information
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor students, staff, and volunteers in leadership roles
  • Demonstrated ability to use current computer technology, such as Word, Excel, Canva/graphics, and social media.
  • Ability to guide students through the coordination of events and activities
  • Strategic goal-setting abilities, with strong collaboration skills
  • Excellent leadership, coaching, and mentorship skills
  • Ability to build and maintain strong, credible relationships
