In this role you can expect to have the responsibilities:
- Assist with sourcing, collecting, and analyzing structured and unstructured data from transportation sources and financial reports.
- Identify data anomalies to determine data-analytics issues with the greatest opportunities.
- Prepare transportation applications using data visualizations and reports summarizing research findings.
- Apply Statistical and Machine Learning methods to transportation and safety analytics problems.
- Ensure data quality throughout acquisition and processing stages.
- Assist in the design, development, and evaluation of innovative models.
- Handle client requests to ensure project completion and usefulness of results.
- Deliver professional results on projects and proposals.
- Complete training on assigned tasks.
- Exercise ethical decision-making in regard to company funds and resources.

This role requires you to have:
- Bachelor’s Degree in math, computer programming, statistics, data analysis, transportation, or related field.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in transportation or related field as a data scientist/analyst.
- Familiarity with transportation data sources such as Google API, Replica, StreetLight, Inrix, GTFS, transit ridership, and crash data.
- Strong R skills and ability to create custom dashboards in R Shiny.
- Proficiency with databases and strong SQL skills.
- Strong geospatial analysis skills, ideally in R and Postgres/PostGIS.
- Familiarity with business intelligence tools and big data technologies.
- Experience in data management practices and exploratory data analysis.
- Analytical mindset with sound judgment in applying logic and making decisions.
- Interpersonal and communication skills to articulate complex data simply and effectively.
