The CCS Analytics Practice
The CCS Analytics Practice is a passionate group of high-performing staff that provide specialized data analytics and predictive modeling services to clients supported by project teams throughout the firm.
The Data Analytics Practice at CCS is experiencing rapid growth, resulting in a need to expand the team. We are looking for individuals with skills and insights that will allow us to provide high-quality data analytics services to our clients and develop new innovative services. These new members will bring passion, teamwork, and creativity to the job every day.
About the Data Scientist Position:
Our process is a collaborative, team-focused approach, which means that you will have the opportunity to work on multiple aspects of a client project. On any given day you may find yourself assisting with client onboarding, vetting, and validating data sets, building predictive models, performing bespoke statistical analyses, crafting presentation materials, or participating in the presentation of our work to the client. We encourage all team members to develop these skills to participate in each step.
Our main objective is to identify opportunities in a client’s constituent database. Some of our services include:
Predictive Modeling:
- Uses statistical techniques to score a client’s constituents based on data from the client’s internal database. By combining wealth capacity data with the affinity scores generated by the predictive models we can:
- Identify new compelling major gift prospects.
- Evaluate the currently managed prospects to find new, untapped opportunities.
RFM Analysis:
- Scores a client's donors to summarize best givers based on a donor’s recency, frequency, and magnitude of giving. Wealth screening data is combined with the RFM scores to prioritize a client's best prospects.
Year-over-Year Trend Analysis and Benchmarking:
- Compares fundraising performance over multiple time periods, sources, and gift funds to help identify trends and anomalies that may shed light on future fundraising performance.
We are looking for a dedicated professional that has:
- At least three years of statistical analysis or predictive modeling experience.
- A bachelor’s degree or better in Statistics, Data Science, or Math (or comparable professional experience).
- Experience using R or Python to perform statistical analyses.
- Experience with process automation using custom scripts and functions.
- Data visualization skills and the ability to use those skills to tell a compelling story.
- A passion for helping nonprofit organizations.
- The ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and logically both verbally and in writing.
- Comfort articulating strategies with a variety of audiences.
- Adaptability to manage changing workflows, new situations, and varied personalities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Other helpful skills include:
- Experience with cloud-based data storage and computing services such as Snowflake, AWS, DataBricks, and Azure.
- An understanding of the professional services/ consulting environment.
- Experience working for or with a non-profit organization.
- Experience with programming (R, Python) to create interactive applications (Shiny, Streamlit).
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and data visualization software (i.e. PowerBI or Tableau).
