Description:
Responsible for providing clinical nutrition services, including nutrition assessment, modified diet formulation, self-management training, and nutrition intervention to patients/residents. Ensures patient satisfaction, quality care, regulatory agency compliance, and good public relations are achieved through the safe and efficient use of resources.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assesses the nutritional status of neonates, infants, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and/or geriatric patients through documentation in the medical record.
- Develops and revises a nutrition care plan based on information from the patient, medical record, family, and health care team members.
- Advises the department on patient care and food service issues.
- Complies with regulatory agency standards, including federal and state, as evidenced by successful completion of surveys with no deficiencies.
- Participates in facility-wide and department Performance Improvement Program and on Performance Improvement teams to improve processes and patient care.
- Orients, mentors, and trains staff and interns, as applicable.
- Knowledge of insurance carrier requirements for bariatric surgery. Provides specialized documentation required to support insurance approval for bariatric surgery. Works with the surgeon at the time of evaluation to plan and develop pre and post-operative treatment plans.
- Provides the initial consult for all patients who are requesting bariatric surgery as a Credentialed billing provider under Medicare and the Piedmont Clinic.
- Supports the PAH Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence. Attends meetings and participates in initiatives that support Piedmont Atlanta Hospital's status as an Accredited Center of Excellence for Bariatric Surgery. Assists with treatment model design for post-operative patients. Attends after-hours patient seminars on bariatric surgery. Provides support and education for referring physicians.
- Provides patient support beyond clinic visits. Provides telephone support for patients. Reviews post-discharge notes and monitors patient adherence via telephone.

Qualifications:
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Bachelor's degree.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Entry Level - Minimum one (1) year work experience as a dietitian preferred.
MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
Current Licensure in the State of GA as a Dietitian.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Registered Dietitian (Commission on Dietetic Registration). Credentialed billing provider.
