The Estate Planning Paralegal/Legal Assistant provides essential support to attorneys in the preparation, execution, and management of estate planning documents and matters. This role involves working closely with clients, attorneys, and other professionals to ensure that estate planning documents are accurate, comprehensive, and compliant with applicable laws. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of estate planning processes, exceptional attention to detail, and excellent client-facing skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft and prepare estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance healthcare directives, and beneficiary designations.
  • Coordinate with clients to gather necessary information and assist with the execution of estate planning documents.
  • Maintain and organize files for estate planning clients, ensuring documents are filed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Assist with trust administration, including asset transfers and preparation of trust funding documents.
  • Conduct legal research and stay updated on estate planning laws and regulations.
  • Assist attorneys with probate and estate administration, including preparing probate forms, gathering assets, and communicating with beneficiaries.
  • Prepare and file deeds, affidavits, and other legal documents related to estate planning and probate.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring excellent communication and follow-up.
  • Manage case calendars, deadlines, and appointments for estate planning matters.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Legal Studies, Paralegal Studies, or related field.
  • Paralegal certification is preferred but not required.
  • 3+ years of experience in estate planning or probate matters.
  • Strong understanding of estate planning documents and terminology.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Proficiency in legal research and legal software (e.g., Clio, MyCase, etc.).
  • Strong client communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in probate and trust administration.
  • Knowledge of local estate planning laws and regulations.
