Match Group is a leading provider of dating products across the globe. Our portfolio includes Tinder, Match, Hinge, PlentyOfFish, The League, and others, each designed to spark meaningful connections for singles worldwide. Creating a sense of belonging doesn’t stop at our products - it’s the foundation of every team we hire.
We are seeking a talented and motivated Senior Cloud Platform Engineer to join our Match Group Central Platform team. Our mission is to provide essential central services to all brands within the Match Group umbrella, functioning as an internal provider of Software as a Service (SaaS) . As a team member, you will be responsible for operating multiple central services and building their underlying infrastructure to be scalable, reliable, cost-efficient, and secure. You will also have the opportunity to learn from Match Group and Tinder’s backend systems and infrastructure, as well as gain experience with cross-functional topics such as security, IT, and even finance.
When it comes to dating, the connection starts online, but the real magic happens once you meet in real life (IRL). We think the same is true for creating the best platforms, so we work together IRL in our Los Angeles office 2 days/week.
Please note that availability for on-call duties outside of regular business hours is required for this position.
How you'll make an impact:
- Have ownership of the team’s infrastructure components, including AWS, Kubernetes, CI/CD platforms, and other third-party solutions. You will support our team and brand engineers by troubleshooting infrastructure-related issues to unblock engineers and business operations.
- Standardize and streamline infrastructure, backend, and database systems that are self-manageable, consistent, reliable, observable, scalable, and high-performing. These systems will support the central services by leveraging all available internal and external technologies.
- Work closely with the Tinder CloudOps team to learn and adopt their tools, knowledge, and skills, and to help manage and support some of the team’s applications which are deployed in Tinder's infrastructure.
- Design, improve, and implement various stages of the development lifecycle in coordination with backend engineers. This includes areas such as repository structures, CI/CD pipelines, release management, documentation, and observability systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, security, IT, and finance, to ensure timely delivery, infrastructure security, cost-effectiveness, and more.
- Contribute to team growth by participating in hiring interviews, offering high-level technical guidance, mentoring others, and sharing knowledge with teams and brands.
- Stay updated on the latest technologies, industry trends, and emerging best practices. You will play a key role in shaping the infrastructure roadmap and leading technical initiatives in alignment with leadership.
- A very strong understanding of fundamental computer science and software engineering concepts, including logical thinking, problem-solving, debugging skills, Linux, and networking.
- A product and business-centric mindset, with excellent communication skills and a strong sense of ownership.
- Experience with at least one programming language such as Python, Golang, Rust, JavaScript, Java, and/or .NET.
- Expertise in AWS core services, including EC2, VPC, IAM, Route53, and RDS.
- Experience with Kubernetes and containerization technologies.
- Experience with various observability platforms, with experience in at least one logging, metrics, and tracing solution.
- Experience with different datastore types, including RDBMS (e.g., MySQL), in-memory caches (e.g., Redis), NoSQL (e.g., DynamoDB), and/or messaging systems (e.g., Kafka).
- Experience working with cross-functional teams, such as security, IT, and/or finance, contributing to security, compliance, and FinOps-related initiatives.
- Experience with on-call duties and/or conducting postmortems.
- Experience working with the development lifecycle and CI/CD pipelines, from source code repositories to production systems.
