Job Position: Communications Manager
Location: Montebello and Los Angeles
Reports to: Co-Director
Status: Exempt
Salary Range: $75k - $80k DOE
Primary Responsibilities Include:
- Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies that include media relations, digital media, and marketing initiatives to support the organization's mission and goals.
- Lead, mentor, and manage the communications team, providing guidance and support in their professional development and project execution.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistency in messaging and branding across all communication channels.
- Oversee the creation and distribution of all communication materials, including press releases, newsletters, website content, social media posts, and marketing collateral.
- Develop and maintain the media list by cultivating relationships with journalists across national, regional, and local outlets to secure media coverage and promote organizational initiatives.
- Manage the organization's digital presence, including websites and social media platforms, to engage stakeholders, amplify key messages, and maintain an archive of digital content and photos.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- 3 to 5 years of experience in communication, public relations, or marketing roles, with demonstrated leadership experience in managing and motivating team members.
- Diligent in using correct grammar and language in all communications, utilizing enterprise branding standards.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling messages for different audiences.
- Proficiency in digital communication tools, social media platforms, and content management systems such as Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, Canva, Hootsuite, Mailchimp, and WordPress.
- Committed to advancing the organization's mission and serving its targeted population.
- Advanced knowledge of media relations practices and principles.
- Proficient in photography, video, and graphic designs.
- Availability to work occasional evenings and weekends, depending on business continuity.
Terms of Employment:
Candidate must live in the Los Angeles region, have reliable transportation, and current vehicle insurance for occasional travel to events or meetings as needed.
