The Senior Payroll Specialist will be responsible for overseeing and managing the entire payroll process for the company. This includes ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing, compliance with all federal and state regulations, and providing exceptional service to our employees. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in payroll systems, strong analytical skills, and the ability to handle confidential information with the utmost discretion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process and manage bi-weekly, semi-monthly, or monthly payrolls for all employees
  • Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing, including salary, bonuses, overtime, and deductions
  • Maintain and update employee payroll records, including tax withholdings, benefits, and direct deposits
  • Reconcile payroll accounts and prepare payroll reports for management
  • Stay current with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and ensure company compliance
  • Handle payroll tax reporting and ensure timely submission of payroll taxes
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies and respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues
  • Collaborate with HR and Finance to ensure accurate employee data and benefit deductions
  • Lead year-end payroll processes, including W-2 preparation and distribution
  • Implement and maintain payroll policies and procedures to ensure compliance and efficiency
  • Provide training and support to junior payroll staff
  • Assist with audits and provide necessary documentation and reports
  • Suggest improvements to the payroll system and processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in payroll processing, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead role
  • Strong knowledge of payroll systems and software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, Workday)
  • Comprehensive understanding of payroll regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with VLOOKUPs and Pivot Tables
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and discretion
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation is a plus
