Job Responsibilities
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations specific to the cannabis industry.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely processing and accurate record-keeping.
- Oversee inventory accounting and cost analysis, working closely with operations to optimize inventory management.
- Conduct regular reconciliations of bank statements and general ledger accounts.
- Assist with the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts, analyzing variances and providing insights to management.
- Collaborate with external auditors during annual audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial reporting.
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to cannabis accounting and finance.
- Mentor and train junior accounting staff, fostering a collaborative team environment.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Previous experience in the retail industry is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting regulations specific to the cannabis sector.
- Proficient in accounting software and ERP systems; experience with QuickBooks or similar platforms preferred.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
Salary up to $100,000 plus bonus and benefits.
