What you’ll be doing…

This University of Massachusetts Amherst Co-op position, which is part of the Verizon Campus Program, will allow you to channel your drive and enthusiasm as part of a 6-month rotation from January 13, 2025, to July 11, 2025, working a full-time schedule. You’ll be front and center, hands-on, and contributing your creative energy to high-impact projects from the moment you arrive.

As a Co-op with the Full Stack Software Development team, some of the projects you may work on could enhance your skills in one or more of the following areas:

  • 5G Technology.
  • AR/VR and Computer Vision.
  • Application development: SaaS development and scripting.
  • Back-end: e.g., Express, Flask, Ruby.
  • Development Tools & Languages: .NET, C, C++, J2EE, Python, Java.
  • Enterprise development: logging and monitoring, rules engine.
  • Front-end: React.js, Ember, Vue.
  • Analytics: Data processing and sharp analytical mind.
  • Mobile development: Android/OS.
  • Service APIs: microservices, restful services, web services.
  • Web development: browsers, web development framework.
  • Operating Systems: Linux, Solaris, Windows.
  • Software: server, applications design, engineering, and evaluations.
  • Development methods: quality assurance, object-oriented programming, secure SW development lifecycle.

You must be currently enrolled in a qualifying bachelor’s degree program at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and be in good academic standing to be considered.

This Co-op position will be based out of Boston, MA, and follow a hybrid work schedule as set by the manager, including work from home and intentional in-person days.

You’ll need to have:

  • Ability to participate in our 6-month co-op that takes place from January 13, 2025, to July 11, 2025, working a full-time schedule.
  • Current enrollment in a University of Massachusetts Amherst Bachelor’s degree program in Telecommunications, Information Technology, Engineering, Data Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related major with an expected completion date between December 2025 and June 2026.
  • Coursework or demonstrated experience in scripting and coding (ex: Python, Java, React, NodeJS, NextJS, Javascript/Typescript).
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. without restrictions or need for future sponsorship.
  • Willingness to travel and work in an assigned Verizon office.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Demonstrated strong written and communication skills.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite.
  • Knowledge of mobile development (e.g., Android, IOS).
  • Knowledge of service Application Programming Interface (API) Integration (e.g., Microservices, Restful APIs, Web Services).
  • Knowledge of Web Development (e.g., Frameworks, browsers, and embedded applications).
  • Understanding of Quality Assurance (QA) automation tools and/or Secure SW development cycle.
