SALARY: $100,000-$110,000 per year, paid bi-weekly

Position Description

The Senior Director of Development plays a pivotal role at Depaul USA, leading the development team in collaboration with the President/Executive Director to secure fundraising income that constitutes half of Depaul USA’s total revenue. This role is crucial in sourcing major gifts, foundation and corporate grants, annual fund gifts, and proceeds from local events across 11 cities.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Oversee the daily operations of the Development Department and implement its strategic plan.
  2. Expand the major giving program by strengthening relationships with existing and new donors.
  3. Develop a major giving plan that enhances Depaul USA’s fundraising outcomes.
  4. Create a comprehensive annual development plan.
  5. Prepare an annual budget for development operations in collaboration with leadership.
  6. Achieve specific fundraising targets and report regularly to the board and senior management.
  7. Maintain awareness of fundraising developments and liaise with local fundraising staff.
  8. Ensure compliance with relevant laws and ethical standards in all fundraising activities.

Qualifications

  1. A bachelor’s degree is required with a minimum of five years in development and fundraising experience.
  2. Proven track record in major gift fundraising.
  3. Strong organizational skills, including budget management and program development.
  4. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  5. Strong interpersonal skills with a high functioning sense of humor.
  6. Technologically proficient, especially with Donor software and Excel.
  7. Goal-oriented with a hands-on approach.

Work Schedule

Location: Based in the Downtown Chicago Executive Office.
Hours: Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM CST. Occasional weekend and evening work may be required.
Travel: Approximately 15% to 25% of travel is required for this role.
