Director, Adult Echocardiography Laboratory
Description
The University of Chicago’s Department of Medicine, Section of Cardiology, is searching for a full-time Associate Professor or Professor to serve as the Director of the Adult Echocardiography Laboratory. The appointee will join and lead an established group of nationally and internationally renowned physicians, researchers, and educators in the field of cardiac ultrasound imaging. In conjunction with other leaders in the Section of Cardiology and the Heart and Vascular Center, the Director is expected to expand clinical research and to develop strategies for increasing patient referrals and procedure volumes. The Adult Echocardiography Laboratory at the University of Chicago has a long-standing tradition of excellence in a full range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including transthoracic and transesophageal imaging, as well as guidance of structural heart disease repair.
Clinical Responsibilities
- Review and interpretation of cardiac ultrasound images.
- Performing transesophageal echocardiography examinations.
- Outpatient cardiology clinic duties.
- Inpatient services and consults.
- Supervising activities of satellite echocardiography laboratories.
- Teaching and supervision of fellows and students.
- Engagement in scholarly activities.
Minimum Requirements
- Medical doctorate (MD) or equivalent degree.
- Hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois.
- Board certified in internal medicine and in cardiovascular disease.
- Board certified or eligible in echocardiography.
- Experience and understanding of other cardiac imaging modalities, namely MRI, CT, and PET.
