Job Overview
CGS is seeking a System Administrator to join their Digital Solutions team. This position will be responsible for the effective provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware, software, and related infrastructure. This role is crucial in ensuring that our IT infrastructure is reliable, efficient, and secure. The ideal candidate will have expertise in system administration, with additional experience in configuration management tools and practices. You will work as part of a team to collaboratively develop and implement procedures and standards for the maintenance and operation of corporate information systems meeting NIST 800-171/CMMC requirements.

Responsibilities
Essential Duties & Job Functions:
- System Administration:
- Manage the day-to-day operations of IT systems, including servers, and storage.
- Ensure the availability, performance, and security of systems by applying patches, updates, and configurations.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure high availability and reliability.
- Perform regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures.
- Configuration Management:
- Develop, implement, and maintain configuration management processes to ensure consistency across IT environments.
- Utilize configuration management tools (Intune, SCCM, MECM, MEM) to automate system configuration, deployment, and maintenance tasks.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date configuration documentation.
- Collaborate with Business Solutions, Cybersecurity, and Platform Delivery teams to ensure configurations align with organizational standards and security policies.
- Manage version control of configuration files and scripts, ensuring changes are tracked and rolled out consistently.
- Infrastructure Automation:
- Develop and implement automation scripts to streamline routine system administration tasks.
- Work on continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to ensure efficient delivery and deployment of infrastructure changes.
- Security and Compliance:
- Ensure that systems adhere to established NIST 800-171 controls.
- Conduct regular security assessments and audits to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities.
- Collaboration and Support:
- Provide technical support and guidance to other IT staff and end-users as needed.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that IT services meet the needs of the organization.
- Participate in on-call rotation and respond to emergencies as required.
Job Requirements
Mandatory:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 3+ years of experience in system administration.
- CompTIA Sec+ or similar DoD 8140 - (451) Intermediate certification or ability to attain one within 90 days of hire.
- Strong understanding of operating systems (Windows, Linux).
- Experience with virtualization technologies (VMWare/Hyper-V).
- Understanding of networking concepts such as subnetting and DNS.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure.
- Knowledge of scripting languages such as PowerShell and Python.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
