Nature of work : The Academic Advisor, under the direction of an Assistant Director or above, assists in the design, development and implementation of departmental processes and/or programs. Recommends policies and procedures to ensure effective coordination of departmental programs. Typical Responsibilities:Coordinate the implementation and administration of departmental processes and/or programs.Provide day-to-day academic advising. Advise students both individually and in group settings.Produce degree evaluations for lower division students.Acquaint students, faculty, and staff with the retention programs offered through Undergraduate Studies.Assist in the preparation and delivery of workshops and training programs.Work collaboratively with university staff to ensure program's success.Assist in the preparation and delivery of workshops and training programs.May interpret departmental policies for area of responsibility.During declared campus emergencies, this position may be required to perform specific job related duties at a designated off campus location or place of residence.Required Qualifications: This position requires either (a) Master's degree from an acceptable accredited institution in a directly related area of specialization; (b) Bachelor's degree from an acceptable accredited institution in a directly related area of specialization and two years of experience directly related to the job functions; or (c ) 6 years of direct experience.General Description / Primary Purpose: The Academic Advisor, under the direction of an Assistant Director or above, assists in the design, development and implementation of departmental processes and/or programs. Recommends policies and procedures to ensure effective coordination of departmental programs.Job Function: Academic Advisors serve as a resource to all prospective and current students within the College (undergraduate, post-baccalaureate, and graduate). Academic advisors are required to be familiar with overall Department of Education and Board of Trustees policies and procedures that govern the matriculation process (e.g., general education, Gordon Rule, transfer admissions requirements, registration processes, class scheduling, graduation, etc.) as well as appropriate student referral sources (e.g., academic support services, career services) to facilitate student success. Academic Advisors perform the following duties: 1. Provide individual and group academic advising across all modalities including in person and via phone and virtual platforms, as appropriate. 2. Assist in limited access program admission, where applicable. 3. Assist in probation and suspension decisions and other scheduled administrative functions associated with the academic calendar as needed. 4. Assist in program reviews and provide college data as needed. 5. Prepare productivity reports. 6. Assist in the development of programs that increase persistence rates of undergraduate students while tracking and enhancing graduation rates. 7. Recommend and provide input on academic policies and procedures that impact student persistence and graduation rates. 8. Assist with NCAA compliance regulations pertaining to advising. 9. Serve as a resource and student liaison to academic department chairpersons, the Dean?s office and other student support service departments on campus (e.g., Enrollment Services, Dean of Students, Graduate School, Career Services, other UNF advising offices). 10. Assist in the development and distribution of marketing materials describing offerings across undergraduate and graduate programs. 11. Represent the College at various recruitment events throughout the year. 12. May be asked to assist in the development of recruitment plans for undergraduate and graduate programs. 13. May be asked to serve on College or University committees, as appropriate. 14.
