Automation Engineer

Join NES and our dynamic team as an Automation Engineer specializing in SIS and Functional Safety systems integration for oil and gas and processing industry projects.

We are looking for a motivated individual with a passion for safety and automation to drive our projects forward.

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement automation systems focused on Functional Safety and Safety Lifecycle requirements for oil & gas and processing projects.
• Provide technical guidance throughout all project phases, from front-end engineering to commissioning.
• Advise engineering teams on equipment and SIS modifications based on Functional Safety analysis.
• Travel to customer locations for project implementation (25-50%).
• Develop and review Functional Safety deliverables, including Safety Requirements Specifications and SIL Verification calculations.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering; Technical Diploma with equivalent experience considered.
• Functional Safety Certification (CFSP/CFSE, ISA84 SIS Expert, or TUV) preferred.
• 5+ years of industry experience, with at least 3 years in a functional safety role.
• Proficient in IEC 61511 / ISA84, with knowledge of IEC 61508 and API14C.
• Strong skills in functional safety deliverables and tools (e.g., SILSolver, exSILentia) and hands-on experience with SIS programming (Triconex, Honeywell FSC, etc.).
