Design Engineer - Edinburgh, IN - $70k - $80k/year


Aegis Worldwide is seeking a skilled Design Engineer to develop innovative injection molded and thermoformed products for the material handling and packaging industries. The ideal candidate will collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including tool design, quality assurance, manufacturing, and documentation control, to bring designs from concept to production.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead product development from concept to production using NX CAD software, ensuring designs meet customer specifications.
  • Create detailed engineering drawings for customers and production teams.
  • Collaborate with customers, sales, and manufacturing teams to achieve cost, quality, and timing targets.
  • Support sales and manufacturing through daily activities and technical assistance.
  • Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Mold Flow analysis to optimize product performance.
  • Verify and validate new designs to ensure functionality and manufacturability.
  • Work closely with toolmakers on tool design, pricing, and quotes.
  • Troubleshoot issues with prototypes and pre-production samples to ensure seamless production.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
  • 1+ year of experience within a work environment or internship designing and manufacturing injection molded or thermoformed plastic parts. Experience with large product design is a plus.
  • Proficiency in NX, Teamcenter, and SolidWorks.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Ability to develop creative solutions to complex engineering challenges.
  • Experience working collaboratively with cross-functional teams and customers.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize projects effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present technical information to customers.
  • Basic knowledge of manufacturing automation is a plus.
  • Positive, team-oriented attitude and a desire to excel in the role.
