A Day in the Life of the Custodian
As a Custodian , you will play a vital role in ensuring the YMCA facilities are clean, safe, and functional. You’ll perform cleaning tasks , manage seasonal duties like snow removal , and help maintain a welcoming environment for members. Your work will directly support the YMCA’s mission of promoting community well-being and safety .
Responsibilities include :
- Cleaning and sanitizing areas, including mopping, dusting, and trash removal
- Maintaining the grounds (e.g., snow removal, lawn care )
- Basic maintenance of equipment and pool cleaning
- Setting up for events and meetings
- Reporting and addressing repair needs
- Replenishing supplies (e.g., soap, paper towels )
- Following safety standards and YMCA policies
Requirements and Qualifications :
- Six months of custodial, janitorial, or maintenance experience preferred
- Basic knowledge of cleaning equipment, chemicals, and safety protocols
- Ability to read and follow instructions
