Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and empathetic Collections Associate to manage a portfolio of student accounts for both undergraduate and graduate students. This role is essential in ensuring students and their families have a clear understanding of their financial responsibilities and the resources available to them while ensuring the collection of University tuition and fee revenue.
Key Responsibilities:
- Account Management: Oversee a portfolio of student accounts, ensuring accuracy and timely communication regarding outstanding balances.
- Outreach: Proactively contact students and families to discuss account balances and offer assistance in understanding their financial options.
- Financial Aid Assistance: Understand federal financial aid processes and provide guidance to families on obtaining necessary financial assistance.
- Payment Solutions: Present payment options to families, including payment plans, extensions of due dates, holds on accounts, and deferments.
- Account Reviews: Conduct regular reviews of student accounts to identify inaccuracies, proactively reach out about potential fee waivers (e.g., medical insurance), and ensure compliance with institutional policies.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including financial aid, billing, and student services, to provide comprehensive support to students and families.
- Customer Service: Maintain a high level of professionalism and empathy while addressing student and family inquiries via phone, email, and in-person meetings.
Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $52,400 to $65,500; salary commensurate with relevant experience.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree.
- Minimum of four years collections experience. Previous university experience preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills, a strong customer service orientation, and the ability to work independently required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and time management skills.
- Additional hours may be required during busy seasons.
