Position Summary
As a Software Engineer joining our fast-growing Engineering team, you will actively participate in implementing features of Velocity’s cloud-based Global Work Platform. As we continue to substantially scale our world-class platform to delight customers and enable our operations partners, progress in migrating from monolithic to microservices architecture, and collaborate in defining and tackling diverse technical challenges, you will have the opportunity to grow as a problem solver in a nimble team through mentorship, delivering well tested code as you execute the product roadmap, and actively participating in code reviews.
Responsibilities
- Help to execute our technical vision and roadmap that align development activities and projects with company and team goals
- Participate in all product development activities from ideation to delivery as a "no ego" team member
- Participate in software design, acting as an agent of change to provide out-of-the-box thinking
- Collaborate with team members to break big problems into smaller ones and iterate for success
- Engage in software delivery via a continuously improving development process, creating a highly predictable software delivery machine
- Lead with a positive mindset, can-do attitude, and extreme ownership over your work, inspiring accountability within the team
- Help to attract top-notch talent to join our existing team of experienced engineers
- Be fearless in pushing outside your comfort zone and growing as a developer and human
- Keep it as simple as possible and no simpler
Qualifications/Skills
- 3+ years of experience developing commercial software
- Solid Back-End Capabilities:
- Experience with modern API frameworks such as Ruby on Rails, Java, Node.JS, Python and a solid foundation in REST best practices.
- Understanding of modern authorization mechanisms, such as JSON Web Token.
- A good sense for separation of concerns when integrating back-end and front-end functionality
- Front-End Foundations:
- Javascript experience and in-depth knowledge of at least one modern frontend framework such as React or Angular.
- Experience with cutting-edge frontend tools and technologies such as GraphQL, Websockets, Webpack, React Hooks, Jest, RxJS, Redux, and Flux.
- Familiarity with React Native and general mobile development best practices.
- Expertise in CSS and HTML to implement pixel-perfect UIs that match designs.
- A history of implementing clean, modern, smooth animations and transitions that provide an award-winning user experience.
Please note: In the spirit of winning together, the position will be based in Denver, CO and in-office collaboration is required for at least one day per week.
Our job titles may span more than one career level. The base pay depends upon many factors, such as training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified. This role is eligible for annual performance-based bonuses, flexible time off, health care benefits, retirement savings, and employee incentive plans.
Pay Range
$112,500—$133,900 USD
