Our client is seeking a Field Operator to work within their facilities located in Midland, TX for a 5-month assignment (with the possibility of extension depending on performance).
Summary
The Produced Water Technician II operates recycling equipment in collaboration with the Operational Control Center (OCC) and Water Coordinators. This role involves performing routine maintenance tasks to ensure the reliability and efficiency of recycling infrastructure.
Key responsibilities include conducting preventative maintenance and minor mechanical repairs, as well as assisting with major equipment repairs when necessary. The technician coordinates with OCC, Water Coordinators, and Water Management personnel to complete daily tasks, communicating clearly with all relevant parties. The role may require independent work or teamwork, depending on the situation.
Additional duties include collecting samples of produced water and recycled effluent, and working alongside Water Management, PXD Land, and contractors on the construction of new facilities. The technician operates across various locations, including recycling facilities, ponds, Above Ground Storage Tanks (ASTs), and remote sites.
Responsibilities

  • Provides support and responds to unplanned conditions as necessary for daily operations. With direction, ensures recycling water supplies and storage are managed properly to provide adequate recycled water for scheduled demand. Coordinates with Water Coordinators to ensure proper PWM water movements and deliver water to the end user location for Pioneer.
  • Coordinates Water Supply of Produced Influent water from Pioneer's Asset Teams with direction
  • Operates and manages Above Ground Storage Tanks (AST's), recycling ponds, tanks, and processing/treating equipment, and other equipment and assets in assigned area, including maintenance and inspection. Walks perimeter of storage tanks and pipelines for maintenance and inspection. Climbs pit walls and AST's stairs to visually inspect and verify instruments.
  • With direction, Ensures recycling waste, including NORM, Air Quality, and Oil Skim, is handled correctly.
  • Assists in working with water customers and landowners.
  • Supports Control Room operations with tasks that must be performed manually.
  • Learns proper techniques for water testing, reads test equipment, and gathers water samples.
  • Monitor all pipelines and hoses associated with influent and effluent streams of reuse/recycling.
  • With direction, learns basic operation and proper maintenance of pumps, compressors, engines, motors, sheaves, valves, strainers, filters, piping, ponds, electrical panels, water quality testers, and all other related equipment onsite and as needed.
  • Operates, maintains, and inspects pond, pumping and water equipment to ensure proper operation. Checks for proper operation, making needed adjustments and minor repairs. Ensures proper security of assigned facilities.
  • Maintains equipment in accordance with approved schedules, fulfills work orders, generates work orders for new tasks required, and balances schedule to respond to unplanned conditions according to the appropriate priority. Completes assigned work on time and meets schedules.
  • Performs power washes and cleaning of equipment as directed. Performs routine housekeeping of assigned facilities to maintain a safe, orderly, and efficient work environment.
  • Drives to location, gathers information, and diagnoses problems to perform minor repairs, replace broken parts, etc. Informs Supervisor of need for significant repairs. Relays information to troubleshoot issues. May perform or help others perform maintenance and repairs.
  • Learns to recognize abnormal conditions and respond appropriately.
  • Helps decide how to fix, repair or adjust equipment to retain or recover lost performance.
  • Detects oil, water or gas leaks and reports them through the proper channels.
  • Reads and records daily volumes, flow rates, pressures, etc. from lease measurement equipment.
  • Completes required paperwork (e.g. equipment readings and logs, preventative maintenance records, work orders, inspection records, etc.) and submits to office or enters into the computer as appropriate. Maintains general lease appearances and housekeeping.
  • Uses proper lockout/tag-out procedures.
  • Adheres to all Company HSE policies, state and local regulations and policies, and knows and uses appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) at all times.
  • Reads and follows directions in manufacturers' maintenance manuals, engineering drawings, Standard Operating Procedures, and maintenance procedures.
  • Demonstrates continuous efforts to maintain safety, improve operations, decrease turnaround times and streamline work processes.
  • Keeps equipment and tools clean and secure; maintains neat, clean work areas and immediately reports any faulty tools for replacement.
  • Operates, services, washes, and ensures proper maintenance and security for Company vehicle and other property issued for which responsible. Drives on varied terrain.
  • Accurately completes required time sheets, vehicle mileage reports, equipment servicing reports, daily work sheets, and logs; submits as required.
  • May exercise custody and safekeeping over tools and inventory of spare parts and supplies; notifies supervisor of need for replacements and additional inventory. Maintains log of materials used for re-supply. May be required to monitor inventory and report deviations.
  • Knows and uses appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) at all times.
  • Subject to call out during off duty times. May relieve other employees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Work Experience
1.5 years experience as a Produced Water Tech III preferred. Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills required of the position.
Requirements
  • High School education or equivalent.
  • Able to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule forms.
  • Valid operators license with clean driving record.
  • Ability to understand and apply basic math.
  • Ability to communicate effectively over phone.
  • Basic computer skills required with a familiarity of the MS Office suite of products.
