Job Description

This is your opportunity to join Capital One’s new, luxury vertical: Velocity Black. Within Capital One, the Velocity Black team is a leading digital concierge company that delivers travel, entertainment, shopping and dining offerings to consumers globally. Velocity Black has built a unique customer experience — its proprietary platform offers inspiration, recommendations and fulfillment in one place, making it an integral part of customers’ lives. The Product team reimagines the status quo and drives innovative, sustainable experiences through technology.

To be successful in the role, you will need to be a well-rounded 'business athlete’ - a creative, analytical, and technically proficient problem solver who understands both the dynamics of the business and the tech landscape. The ideal candidate is resourceful, motivated, and self-sufficient, with demonstrated success in spearheading cross-functional projects that drive the growth and success of a business.

As a Senior Associate Product Manager - Payments in Velocity Black, you will:

  1. Lead an engineering team to design and deliver payment product features for our customers, agents, and merchants.
  2. Demonstrate knowledge and passion for API integrations, mobile and web development.
  3. Build a roadmap, own the backlog, and prioritize high-leverage feature builds grounded in both qualitative and quantitative data.
  4. Build and maintain partnerships with leaders and stakeholders to influence and advance the payments agenda.
  5. Define, socialize, and monitor key performance metric indicators to understand the evolution and success of the product.
  6. Apply strategic thinking to delivering product features that are well managed, including collaborating effectively with risk, compliance, legal, and privacy partners.

We are looking for someone who has:

  1. A knowledge and passion for emerging technologies (APIs, Big Data, Native UIs) and payment technologies to incorporate into building great products.
  2. Can use SQL to build a data-backed strategy, identify insights, and troubleshoot issues.
  3. Own day-to-day setting and monitoring of KPIs.
  4. Someone comfortable with backend products who is not afraid to challenge the norm and do what is right for the team.
  5. Own day-to-day operations of the payments product, including identifying bugs or leverage opportunities via comprehensive understanding of data.
  6. A product-centric mindset to take a product from ideation to production and continually iterate improvements.
  7. A customer-first mindset.
  8. A strong communicator who can advance initiatives and create consensus through clear, concise, and contextually relevant messaging.
  9. Results-focused and able to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
  10. Identify, prioritize, and launch innovative, customer, agent, and merchant-focused payment products that drive revenue and customer value.
  11. You enjoy working with diverse people and driving the team toward a common goal. You have the ability to put the team before yourself and establish long-lasting relationships.

Basic Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree or military experience.
  2. At least 2 years of product management experience or at least 2 years of experience in business analysis or software engineering.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Computer Science, or Engineering.
  2. MBA or Master’s degree.
  3. 3+ years of experience in Agile product management.
