POSITION SUMMARY: Oversees day-to-day operation of residential shelter. Supervises all aspects of the administration and management of the program. Leads and directs team members in areas including, but not limited to, regulations/standards compliance, facility-specific human resources functions, budget development/monitoring, building maintenance, and implementation of the youth development system.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Supervise Assistant Program Director and shelter personnel in specialized roles.
  • Collaborate with shelter leadership and HR on performance issues and progressive disciplinary documents.
  • Require advanced job, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ensure shelter operations comply with strategic goals, budget, and contract requirements.
  • Manage facility to create a welcoming environment for guests.
  • Consult with direct supervisor on clinical issues.
  • Lead and contribute as a team member.
  • Facilitate small and large groups with varied dynamics.
  • Assist with outreach efforts as needed.
  • Report to work on time, ready to work.
  • Follow EEO principles and maintain a respectful workplace.
  • Work cooperatively in a team setting.
  • Take direction from supervisors or designees.

  • Coordinate with shelter leaders to complete contractual tasks (fire drills, health inspections, etc.).
  • Supervise specialty roles (cook, office specialist, outreach coordinator, etc.).
  • Ensure staff comply with the Youth Development System.
  • Oversee Quality Improvement process and COA standards compliance.
  • Submit monthly reports on shelter progress.
  • Continuously improve program outcomes for children and families.
  • Comply with all YFA, DJJ, DCF, and Florida Network policies.
  • Lead annual contract monitoring preparations.
  • Collaborate with community providers to support children in various revenue streams.
  • Ensure staff follow YFA policies and procedures.
  • Lead staff and external meetings.
  • Assist with fundraising efforts.
  • Ensure compliance with licensing standards and budget requirements.
  • Participate in community committees, workgroups, and teams.
  • Oversee recruitment, hiring, training, and discipline.
  • Ensure compliance with DOH food program and budget.
  • Provide guidance for staff evaluations.
  • Handle special projects as assigned.
  • Identify and coordinate staff training needs.
  • Develop and maintain annual strategic goals for the program and staff.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Authorized to access protected health information.
  • Oversee facility maintenance to ensure safety and functionality.
  • Implement and supervise cleaning schedules for all facility areas.
  • Conduct safety inspections and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors for maintenance and repairs.
  • Manage inventory and ordering of cleaning and maintenance supplies.

WHAT YOU NEED:

Bachelor’s degree in social work or in a related area of study and four (4) years of experience working with children; or master’s degree from an accredited college or university and at least two (2) years of experience in social services. At least one year of experience working in a residential facility is required. At least three (3) years of experience working as a shift leader, team leader, or in another supervisory capacity in social services is required.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to travel on a regular basis and statewide as needed; ability to bend, lift, and carry 30 pounds.
