The Division of Neurology at Nemours Children's Health - Jacksonville, FL, and its educational partner institution Mayo Clinic Florida, seeks a Chief of Neurology to lead the division in its clinical and academic mission.

The Division includes 9 Pediatric Neurologists and a Pediatric Neurology Residency of 3 trainees per year (total 15 child neurology residents), in association with Mayo Clinic College of Medicine. The division is part of a neuroscience Institute which includes three neurosurgeons and is affiliated with 280 bed Wolfson Children's Hospital. We have an 8-bed neuro-critical care unit with access to portable MRI and intracranial long-term monitoring. A NAEC Level 4 epilepsy surgery program serves a busy epilepsy program including presurgical evaluations and intraoperative monitoring, minimally invasive robotic surgery, responsive neurostimulation, and a ketogenic diet program.

The Division Chief is a Physician leader of Nemours Children's Health who provides vision, oversight, and guidance to the Neurology team in its clinical excellence and academic mission. They work collaboratively with Nemours campuses in Orlando and Delaware, as well as Mayo Alix School of Medicine - Florida and the University of Florida-Jacksonville campus. The successful candidate will be a nationally recognized academic leader with a record of accomplishments in the areas of clinical expertise, academic scholarship, and research productivity. Academic appointments would be granted at Mayo Clinic, Department of Neurology and will be commensurate with academic accomplishments.

Responsibilities include:

  • Optimize Division clinical services including an appropriate clinical load within the Division
  • Lead and support the Nemours missions of Academic excellence
  • Foster the attainment of external funding in coordination with Nemours Research Strategy
  • Support clinical training and education for medical students, residents, and fellows
  • Create a culture in which participation in clinical research is recognized as the best standard of care for improving the outcomes of all our patients
  • Support our faculty to participate in clinical trial development
  • Recruit and retain well-trained and qualified professional staff to the Division
  • Fiscal Stewardship and Operational Management
