General Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and collaborative leader with a strong creative mindset and a deep understanding of drug discovery processes in the ADC field. The ideal candidate will be a subject matter expert in antibody-drug conjugates, including next-generation ADC platform technologies, with a proven track record of successfully identifying clinical development candidates. Additionally, they should demonstrate an ability to adapt to new therapeutic areas as Orum expands its pipeline.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Drive technological advancements and support the team's efforts in developing and implementing bioconjugation techniques for the creation of targeted conjugate biotherapeutics, including antibody-drug conjugates.
- Oversee and support both internal and external research and CMC efforts in bioconjugation initiatives. Troubleshoot issues as they arise and ensure the timely delivery of high-quality conjugates.
- Collaborate closely with the medicinal chemistry team to advance antibody-drug conjugates from hit identification to lead optimization and candidate selection, focusing on improving conjugation processes and analytical characterization methods.
- Engage and collaborate with leaders and teams across key therapeutic areas to support pipeline delivery and develop modern technologies.
- Partner with business development teams to explore and expand external collaborations.
- Cultivate a culture of transparency, innovation, and creativity to foster new opportunities for the company and the development of intellectual property.
- Contribute to the chemistry strategy in alignment with project objectives.
- Keep up to date knowledge on technological advancements in the targeted delivery space.
- Present scientific updates and communicate research findings effectively during internal and external project team meetings, influencing strategic R&D decisions.
- Mentor junior team members to support their development and growth.
Skills, Abilities & Competencies
- Extensive experience in the biopharmaceutical industry.
- Track record of accomplishment in bioconjugation and/or synthetic chemistry, as indicated by publications in peer-reviewed journals.
- Extensive experience in bioconjugation reactions, techniques and approaches and experience with protein bioanalytical techniques (e.g. HPLC, LC-MS, UV-spectrophotometry, etc.)
- Extensive knowledge of critically relevant areas such as analytical characterization, formulation, and the general CMC scope for ADCs.
- Experience with design and synthesis of conditional release linkers and/or prodrugs.
- Familiarity with structure-activity and structure-property relationships for small molecules, PPI inducers, and/or antibody drug conjugates.
- Willingness to explore and apply new bioconjugation techniques and become fully integrated into Orum’s discovery efforts for next-gen drug conjugates.
- Strong communication and time-management skills, the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, and the ability to effectively collaborate with a global multidisciplinary team.
- Collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong work ethic and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Education : Ph.D. or equivalent degree in organic/medicinal chemistry or a related field with minimum 5 years' bioconjugation experience, MS degree with 8 years', or BS degree with 11 years' experience.
