Overview

Position Summary:       Set-up and operate, in a safe manner, any and/or all machining, automation and polishing equipment within a production cell.  This will include all quality checks per the control plan.

 

Responsibilities

KEY TASKS

  • Measure dimensions of finished workpieces to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments, templates and fixtures.
  • Remove and replace dull cutting tools
  • Mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and workpieces on machine, using hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
  • Listen to machine during operation in order to detect sounds as those made by dull cutting tools and adjust machines to compensate
  • Adjust machine feeds and speed, change cutting tools or adjust machine controls when necessary.
  • Stop machine or remove finished workpieces or to change tooling according to required machining sequences
  • Calculate machine speed and fee ratios and the size and position of cuts
  • Check to ensure that workpieces are properly lubricated and cooled during machine operations
  • Set-up and operate computer controlled machines or robots to perform one or more machine functions.
  • Confer with supervisor or programmers to resolve machine malfunctions or errors.
  • Monitor machine operation and control panel displays
  • Maintain machines and remove/replace broken/worn tools

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS

High School diploma or 1 to 3 years manufacturing experience.

Level 4 CRC Preferred

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide decimals and fractions. Work from drawings, specifications and formulas involving limited detail. Use and interpret measuring equipment.

Use precise judgment to plan and perform work; make decisions as to the sequence of set-ups, operations and processes within the limit of recognized or standard methods and procedures.
