The Amazon Prime UX Research team is the knowledge hub of all things Amazon Prime. Our team runs worldwide research work streams aimed at understanding Prime and its customers, as well as conducting forward-looking research to inform Prime's future plans, and to make sure we're always positioned to exceed customer expectations. One of the most exciting parts of working on the Prime UX team is in a unique position to examine the entire user journey, across all Amazon products and services.
We are seeking an experienced mixed methods, quant-leaning UX Researcher who is dedicated to understanding, improving, and evolving the Prime membership experience, and influencing Amazon-wide. This position requires the ability to work quickly, while delivering high-quality outputs in a fast-paced, sometimes ambiguous environment, with the unique opportunity to drive impact for Prime members worldwide. Beyond a razor-sharp mixed-methods research background, the ideal candidate possesses strong organizational and program management skills, and is skilled at navigating a complex, multi-org technical environment while focusing on advocating for the customer at all times.
Key job responsibilities
- Help define our research strategy and roadmap.
- Create new research work streams and programs, and adapt existing ones to suit evolving needs.
- Be a customer advocate in business reviews.
- Ability to dive deep into both qualitative and quantitative data in order to bring forward new insights that generate product innovations.
- Form strong alliances with Prime business intelligence, ML Science, and Econ teams to help develop a complete story of the customer.
- Communicate results and opportunities in clear, concise, and compelling ways to all levels of management.
A day in the life
The UX Researcher for Amazon Prime will lead generative and evaluative research projects. Those projects are focused on key areas, essential to help inform the Amazon Prime present and future product roadmaps. You are expected to think like an owner, always raise the quality of the CX and be relentless advocates for customers. You will collaborate with UX Designers, Product Managers, Marketers, Engineers and fellow UX Researchers both within Prime and beyond, to understand opportunities to evolve the Prime CX and UX. You will also use your communication skills and ability to develop actionable insights to help drive impact across Amazon.

Minimum Qualifications
- 6+ years of UX research experience
- Bachelor's degree in Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology, Human Computer Design Engineering, or related field.
- An available online portfolio
- Experience managing all stages of research (i.e.: writing comprehensive study plans, recruiting and managing research ops., execution, analysis, report-writing, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduate degree in Human Computer Interaction, Anthropology, Human Factors, Interaction Design, Cognitive Psychology, Cognitive Science, or related field.
- Portfolio demonstrating past work experience and deliverables (i.e.: study plans, reports, personas, etc.)
- Industry experience with research methods including: contextual inquiry, IDIs, usability/crowdsourced testing, international research, ethnographic methodologies, diary studies, survey design & analysis, statistical analysis, and maxdiffs.
- An unfailing passion and capacity to advocate on behalf of our users
- The ability to manage ambiguity, work autonomously, and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience applying user research methods including semi-structured interviews, field research, surveys, questionnaire design, diary studies, and usability studies
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, sometimes ambiguous environment
- Knowledge of widely-used design and prototyping tools, working with complex data sets.
- Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal, and analytical skills; the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organization.
- Experience leading research projects for products that present multidisciplinary challenges and span multiple platforms and geographies.
- Experience with Program Management, or ownership of complex projects involving managing communication timelines, conflicting priorities, demonstrating ability to execute independently.
- Quantitative research skills, including experience with cluster analysis, MaxDiff, surveys and behavioral telemetry
- Experience building and maintaining research participant communities
- Experience creating mechanisms for UX research team operations, including intake, scheduling and team capacity management, insights tracking, and process playbooks

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $137,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $226,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
