Description
POSITION SUMMARY
The Nondestructive Testing technician will independently perform inspections utilizing various NDT techniques seeking corrosion, defects, or detrimental conditions in accordance with specific written criteria. The Technician will perform inspections, interpret indications, and report results per company requirements. The Technician will be able to communicate processes, procedures, and results to customers.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy environment by adhering to Company/Customer safety standards and practices and to legal regulations, alerting others regarding potential hazards or concern
  • Assists the Sr. Technician and instructs the apprentice level personnel on the job.
  • Studies to gain NDT certifications while assisting to gain hands-on experience in various NDT methods.
  • Performs any duties assigned by the SR Technician on the job.
  • Performs supervisory activities over apprentice level personnel on the job as needed.
  • Maintains NDT certification.
  • Performs NDT inspections for which certified.
  • Interprets and reports results of inspections and maintains documentation of inspection activities.
Qualifications
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Education:
  • High school or equivalent (Required)
Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • An understanding of basic math
  • Ability to work in Microsoft Word
  • Ability to work with computers / computerized equipment
  • Ability to read, understand, and communicate in English
  • Ability to handle chemicals in a safe manner
  • Ability to follow instructions.
  • Must be able to provide documented training in accordance with NAS410 requirements as follows:
    • PT: 32 hours of formal training (classroom) and 400 hrs. of documented experience (OJT)
    • ET: 80 hours of formal training (classroom) and 800 hrs. of documented experience (OJT)
    • UT: 80 hours of formal training (classroom) and 800 hrs. of documented experience (OJT)
License:
  • Previous Certification to NAS410 Level 2 PT method is required
  • Previous Certification to NAS410 Level 2 in ET and UT is preferred
  • Minimum 2 yrs. experience in NDT field as a certified technician.
Working Conditions / Environment / Special Requirements
  • Ability to work in a safe professional manner adhering to all regulatory requirementsincluding, OSHA, EPA, FAA, DOT, and State and Federal regulations.
  • As required by the position, must have the ability to wear a respirator as per OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134 "Respirator Protection" regulations with no restrictions that would prevent the proper use and/or seal of the respirator.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and different shifts if required
  • Employees will be subject to the random drug and alcohol testing under FAA regulations
