Introduction:

The Director, HR Systems is responsible for the roadmap, implementation, management, and continuous improvement of the company’s HR technology systems. This role ensures the seamless integration and optimization of HR systems to enhance HR operations, drives data-driven decision-making, and supports the company’s overall strategic goals. The Director, HR Systems will lead a team of professionals and work collaboratively with HR, IT, and other key stakeholders to implement and maintain effective HR technology solutions that streamline HR processes and improve user experiences, in support the broader Company Business Systems roadmap.

The Director, HR Systems brings a skill set that is focused on technology, project management, and vendor management with a strong attention to detail to the HR team as the primary client. We’re looking for a Director, HR Systems with deep experience with HRIS, who believes in clean, clear, and simple data structures, that the quality of the input derives the quality of the output, and that all processes are better with automation. Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Leadership:
    1. Optimize the strategic roadmap for HR systems aligned with the company's goals and objectives.
    2. Lead the evaluation, selection, implementation, maintenance of HR technology solutions, ensuring they meet the company's needs and industry best practices.
    3. Collaborate with senior leadership to understand business requirements and translate them into effective HR technology solutions.
    4. Join the CIO staff for alignment on cross-company architecture, security, and technology roadmaps.
  2. System Management:
    1. Oversee the day-to-day operations of HR systems, ensuring data integrity, security, and compliance with relevant regulations and policies.
    2. Manage system upgrades, troubleshooting, and maintenance to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime.
    3. Ensure integration between HR systems and other enterprise systems to streamline processes and ensure data consistency.
  3. Team Leadership and Development:
    1. Build and lead a high-performing team of HR Systems professionals, providing coaching, mentoring, and development opportunities.
    2. Foster a collaborative team culture focused on continuous improvement, innovation, and growth.
    3. Collaborate with HR, IT, and other departments to identify system needs and opportunities for process improvement.
  4. Project Management:
    1. Lead HR system-related projects, from conception through implementation, testing through go live, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and budget.
    2. Coordinate with external vendors and consultants as needed for system implementation and support.
  5. Process Improvement:
    1. Identify opportunities to enhance HR processes through technology, automation, and best practices.
    2. Drive process improvement initiatives to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance the employee experience.
    3. Define and deliver regular user training, specifically to HR.
  6. Data Analytics and Reporting:
    1. Develop and implement data analytics and reporting strategies to provide actionable insights to HR and business leaders.
    2. Ensure accurate and timely data management within HR systems, supporting data-driven decision-making across the organization.
  7. User Support and Training:
    1. Oversee the development and delivery of training programs for HR system users.
    2. Provide ongoing support to HR system users, addressing issues and ensuring user satisfaction.
  8. Vendor Management:
    1. Manage relationships with HR technology vendors and service providers, ensuring effective partnerships and service delivery.
    2. Oversee vendor performance to ensure value for the company.
    3. Leverage relationships, influence the product roadmap and stay aligned with future product commitments particularly in AI.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 10 years of HR systems management or related roles, with progressive people management experience (at least 5 years in leadership role).
  • Strong knowledge of HR processes, policies, and best practices.
  • Proven experience with HRIS (e.g. Workday, UKG) and other HR-related technologies (e.g. Pave, CultureAmp, ICIMs, Fig Learning).
  • Experience with data analytics, reporting tools, and techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex projects.
  • Track record of successful system implementations.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels and convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of data privacy regulations and HR compliance requirements.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Powerpoint is a must) or similar software.
  • Proficient with process documentation and program/timeline management for project implementations.
  • Strong vendor management capabilities.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

The successful candidate will be rewarded with a base salary range between $150,000 and $180,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
