Pay Range: Actual pay may vary up or down depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for incentive compensation.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Supervise and mentor direct reports
- Drive business growth through excellent products and services that our customers love
- Provide technical and team leadership in the design, implementation, and testing of cloud native SaaS solutions
- Work with HR to recruit, interview, and hire software developers
- Stay current on cloud native technologies and strategies to lead team to provide our users with the best platform experience
- Provide aggressive, attainable goals, and time frames
- Use agile and rapid application development processes to speed engineering efforts
- Work with Product Managers to identify new features and ensure feature requirements are clearly documented
- Work with other development managers to ensure features are consistent across platforms
- Contribute to the overall enterprise architecture
- Monitor, measure, and improve software development and test processes
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has direct supervisory responsibility over a team of an Agile team Software Engineers and Quality Assurance Engineers. The teams are sized between 3 and 7 engineers and often include contractors of offshore and/or nearshore.
Minimum Education
4 Year / Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline
Experience
- 3+ Years of Experience in direct, full-time leadership of software engineers
- 6+ Years Experience developing cloud native applications
- Strong web development skills and ability to review other’s code
- Working Knowledge of AWS
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Ability to lead software engineering teams
- Able to work and communicate well with others
- Able to analyze problems and implement/suggest resolutions
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances, think creatively, and problem-solve effectively in ambiguous situations
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required
- Ability to use MS Office tools to write effective design and feature requirement documents
- Strong ownership and organizational skills
- Ability to provide clear instruction and direction
- Positive attitude and team player
- Experience with GitHub including branching and pull requests
- Experience in an Agile development environment
- Demonstration of management skills in organizing projects and people to produce high quality results
- Strong understanding of software algorithms, structures, and patterns
- Experience developing cloud native applications
- Must possess good communication skills and be eager to work in a team environment with other dedicated engineers and managers
