We are seeking a dynamic Senior Tax Accountant to join our Accounting team in Tysons Corner, VA (metro Washington, DC area) and play a critical role in managing our tax compliance and strategic tax planning. This is a hybrid role and the position will be in the office 2-3 days per week.
Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Controller, the Senior Tax Accountant will be responsible for managing and coordinating the company's tax compliance and tax planning functions. This role involves preparing tax returns, ensuring compliance with tax laws, advising on tax strategies, and supporting any tax-related matter.
  • Coordinate with external tax preparers for the preparation and review of federal, state and local tax returns and related schedules
  • Develop and implement tax strategies to optimize the company's effective tax rate
  • Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations, ensuring compliance and assessing potential impact
  • Prepare tax provisions and related financial statement disclosures
  • Operate as main point of contact for tax audits and inquiries from tax authorities
  • Collaborate with the accounting team to support tax planning and financial forecasting efforts
  • Support monthly and year-end close processes
  • Assist with external and internal audit requests and inquiries
  • Support implementation and testing of internal controls, and propose remediation of identified issues
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency of tax operations
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Required Skills / Abilities:
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Procedures (GAAP)
  • Excellent analytical skills and strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Technology savvy with demonstrated ability to learn systems and processes quickly
  • Adaptable and able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to operate effectively in both a team environment and working independently
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, or a closely related field
  • 3-7 years of tax experience required
  • Experience in a public accounting firm or a corporate tax department is highly desirable

Salary Range: $100,000 - $140,000 per year base salary, when annualized
