Military Analysts provide unique insights on foreign military forces, their structure, capabilities, doctrine, weapons systems, plans, and tactics, as well as on global strategic military trends.
- U.S. citizens (dual U.S. citizens also eligible)
- At least 18 years of age
- Willing to move to the Washington, DC area
- Able to complete security and medical evaluations
As a Military Analyst at CIA, you’ll provide U.S. policymakers with analysis of foreign military forces, their structure, capabilities, doctrine, weapons systems, plans and tactics, as well as on global strategic military trends. Analysts frequently provide briefings and written analysis to senior military leaders. You’ll work closely with other CIA analysts and Intelligence Community members to produce timely and accurate all-source analysis.

Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in one of the following fields:
- Military History
- National Security
- International Relations
- Defense Studies
- Political Science
- War Studies
- At least a 3.0 GPA on a 4-point scale preferred
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Awareness of U.S. national security interests
- Demonstrated ability to write clear, concise text
- Research experience in international affairs and/or military history
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Interest in a career that requires regular writing assignments
- Previous military experience as a Military Analyst or Foreign Area Specialist/Officer (FAO)
- Experience in order of battle – database development
- Experience with unique datasets and analytic tools
