Job Requirements / Description

Internship for a Mechanical Engineer Major to support our Compressor Product Engineering Group in the launch of automotive air conditioning compressor designs for global customer vehicle applications. This position requires a hands-on individual who will be expected to participate in all aspects of the product development process including product design, component selection, prototype builds, prototype testing, and test data analysis.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work within the MAHLE Compressor Product Development team to advance product development and customer launch activities
Assist with preparation, build, and testing of compressor product samples
Coordinate test programs
Analyze test data and organize results with observations and conclusions
Apply engineering practices to reach design solutions
Participate in product cost and quality improvement efforts
Participate in cross-functional teams related to customer program launch activity
Participate in meetings, seminars, and training sessions
Meet with outside suppliers/vendors
Operate machine tools / produce product components
Performs other assignments as instructed by Department Management
QUALIFICATIONS:
Enrolled at a 4-year accredited university and GPA of 3.0 or higher
Any previous internship is preferred but not required
High level of analytical skills and mechanical aptitude preferred
Experience with precision rotating equipment
Experience reading technical drawings and interpreting GD&T (geometric dimension & tolerancing)
Good written and oral skills – ability to convey technical concepts
Ability to manage time and organize effectively with multiple projects
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Good results orientation, strong work ethic and interpersonal skills
Computer competency with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD drafting knowledge preferred
