Key Responsibilities
• Lead Development Projects: Conduct groundbreaking chemical research and experiments to develop and enhance our advanced coatings and auxiliary products.
• Research and Development Expertise: Identify, develop, scale up, and commercialize innovative coating solutions. Evaluate, select, and apply standard scientific techniques and processes. Collaborate with the R & D team to design and conduct experiments, analyze data, and interpret results.
• Customer and Field Consultation: Collaborate with customers and internal stakeholders, presenting technical findings, offering field support, and ensuring product success.
• Innovate and Solve Complex Problems: Develop creative technical solutions to address challenges in product development from lab work to commercialization. Stay updated on industry trends and the latest research in coating chemistry, always with an eye towards the next innovation.
• Cross functional Collaboration: Partner with research, marketing, production, and customer service teams to identify trends, customer insights, and new market opportunities.
• Project Leadership and Management: Manage multiple projects, ensure timely delivery, and prioritize tasks based on business needs and deadlines.
• Use of Technical Tools: Bring expertise in utilizing technical tools such as formulation software, Design of Experiment (DOE), and other computer-based statistical tools to ensure precise and effective product development.
• Promote Safety and Compliance: Maintain a safe lab environment, ensure adherence to safety protocols, laws, and regulations.
• Documentation and Reporting: Ensure accurate records of all experimental work and formulation processes in electronic laboratory notebooks. Create comprehensive technical reports and present findings to stakeholders and team members.
Qualifications
· Educational Background: Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field preferred. An advanced degree is preferred. Proven experience as a Coatings Chemist or similar role in a laboratory setting.
· Technical Expertise: Proven experience in coatings formulation, application, and testing, with an emphasis on high performance coatings for diverse industries including automotive, ACE, marine, and architectural. Proficiency in using scientific and analytical software. Excellent problem-solving skills, analytical abilities, and attention to detail.
· Leadership and Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to lead crossfunctional teams and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
· Project Management: Experience managing projects, including leadership roles, from concept to commercialization, with a strong focus on customer satisfaction.
