Join Us in Building the Future of Girl Leadership!
Are you passionate about empowering girls and fostering meaningful connections in your community? Girl Scouts Nation's Capital, the largest Girl Scout Council in the country, is looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Program Specialist to help us expand our programmatic reach and deliver top-notch experiences for girls in grades K-12.
About Us: At Girl Scouts, our programs inspire courage, confidence, and character while providing opportunities for youth to explore their interests, develop leadership skills, and make lifelong friendships. We serve Girl Scouts throughout the Greater Washington, DC region-the District of Columbia plus parts of Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia-by offering engaging activities and events that help them thrive.
Your Role: As a Program Specialist, you will be at the heart of our mission, working closely with community partners to deliver fun, enriching, and impactful experiences for Girl Scouts. You'll have the chance to build strong relationships with local partners-from sports teams to museums-and support Girl Scout programs that align with our national outcomes.
What You'll Do:
  • Expand Our Program Reach: Cultivate and maintain relationships with community partners like the Washington Nationals, DC United, and science museums to offer exclusive Girl Scout experiences.
  • Girl Scout Leadership Expertise: Stay up to date on Girl Scout Journeys and badges, and provide guidance to partners on creating programs that empower Girl Scouts.
  • Ensure Compliance and Inclusivity: Make sure all programs meet Girl Scouts' health, safety, and inclusivity standards, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for every Girl Scout.
  • Communication is Key: Write content for our weekly e-newsletter, monthly program updates, and biannual Girl Scout Insider magazine, connecting with youth, volunteers, and partners.
  • Capitol Hill Dreams: Manage our exciting Congressional Aide program, giving high school Girl Scouts the opportunity to intern in legislative offices on Capitol Hill.
  • Support Volunteers: Provide ongoing support for a dedicated volunteer committee, helping them navigate challenges and achieve their goals.
  • Organize Major Events: Collaborate with partners to plan and execute Council-wide events that serve 1,000 to 4,000 attendees. You'll manage logistics, train volunteers, and ensure successful outcomes.
Are You the Right Fit?
  • A strong writer and communicator, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
  • Passionate about customer service and relationship-building.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and comfort with virtual platforms like Zoom and Microsoft Teams.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing environments and work a varied schedule, including evenings and weekends.
  • Access to reliable transportation for regular travel throughout our jurisdiction.
Bonus points if you have experience in Girl Scouting, knowledge of Salesforce Marketing Cloud, or a background in marketing, virtual event planning, community relations, or business development!
