Reports To: VP of Data Science

Location: Remote (Chicago, IL)

Environment: Remote

Status: Salaried (Fulltime)

Work Schedule: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM CST.

Purpose of Your Work:

The Redwood Logistics Data Science team is looking for a Senior Data Scientist to help create processes and data science products that are linked to increased net revenue and lower cost to serve. The Senior Data Scientist will be responsible for executing the tools, processes, and methods to enable automation and prescriptive analytics.

How You Make a Difference Everyday:

  • Data mining and extraction of usable data from disparate data sources
  • Structured and unstructured data preprocessing such as data cleaning, transformations, and standardization
  • Feature engineering and selection using “best in class” feature selection methods
  • Training, testing, and deploying classification and regression models
  • Model performance evaluation and selection
  • Understanding and communicating value-add from implementing various models
  • Ability to understand business strategy and associated data science applications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience with Python and SQL
  • Understanding of basic database principles required
  • Solid understanding of inferential statistics, including multivariate regression
  • Ability to create compelling visualizations that summarize multivariate models, ideally in multiple frameworks (Tableau, Matplotlib, GGPlot, etc)
  • A minimum of 3 years of Data Science experience training and validating statistical and ML models
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience using Cloud platforms (e.g., Azure)
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (minimum 6 years) work experience
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal instruction

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with automation of ETL processes
  • Experience with optimization and Bayesian models
  • Experience with normalization of third-party datasets a plus
  • Experience with logistics space a plus
  • Advanced degree
