Completes contacts with customers, answers telephone inquiries with a wide range of individuals who have varying degrees of understanding, or with third party representatives, CPAs, practitioners, attorneys Foreign Bank Account Report who possess a professional understanding. Provides full explanations to specific inquiries initiated by the individual, generated by notices, or internally generated assignments. Elicits sensitive, personal, and financial information from individuals to ensure compliance with reporting and disclosure requirements. Makes determinations and uses sound judgment concerning taxpayers' data and responds appropriately to degree to which the individual understood their responsibilities and whether errors in their records reflected honest mistakes or fraudulent intent. Advises taxpayers of the enforcement actions that may be taken if failed to meet commitments to file return and/or pay tax liabilities. Researches relevant laws, cases, and other base sources for information to inform taxpayers of their reporting responsibilities. Educate taxpayers on future actions needed to achieve and maintain voluntary compliance by computing and/or advising on tax liability. Maintains, monitors, or updates work status and inventory records; ordering research; acknowledging correspondence; maintaining, updating, and initiating personnel records; and performing other support activity. Prepares and maintains regular inventory reports using established formats and sources of data applicable to the program, functional, or organizational reporting requirements. This position has career progression. If you are selected at a grade level lower than the full working level, you may be non-competitively promoted as your career progresses. For example, you may be hired as a GS-05, but if the position has career progression to GS-11, then you may move from a GS-05 to a GS-11 in as little as three years. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-09: You must have 1 year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: Experience in legal, tax accounting, or other experience that required knowledge of Federal tax laws, regulations, precedent decisions, or other areas related to the position to be filled. Examples of qualifying experience includes: Preparing, reviewing, or applying rulings, advisory letters, memoranda, etc. related to Federal taxation. AND MEET TIME IN GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT: You must meet applicable TIG requirements to be considered eligible. To meet TIG for positions above the GS-05 grade level, you must have served at least one year (52 weeks) at the next lower grade (or equivalent) in the normal line of progression for the position you are applying to.
