The successful candidate will have mechanical engineering field experience to offer guidance and support to the Turnaround team. 15+ experience working as a Mechanical Engineer within a petrochemical plan is a huge plus.*This is a site position located in Martinez, CA. Per diem is offered for out of area candidates.Job Scope: Generally responsible for performing routine design of less complex engineering assignments using theoretical knowledge and practical design methods. This level will assist in the design of larger and more complex mechanical engineering assignments. This work will be performed under close supervision.Primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to:Field technical support, construction oversight, inspection, and reporting at client sites and vendorsProduce engineering packages and bid documents to code and client specificationsInterface across disciplines to deliver integrated solutionsPerform calculations, develop repair drawings, and provide repair/replacement recommendations, specifications, and scope of work packages for constructionLead Client and Contractor interface, attend meetings, and provide written reportsProvide technical support for field execution, including outage/turnaround projectsAssist in constructability planning, proposal, and estimate developmentFamiliarity and use of department design and drafting standards.Familiarity with project scope, specifications and design criteria upon assignment to a project task team.On-site assistance during startup.Assisting in accomplishing engineering activities such as stress analysis, construction specifications, material procurement specifications, calculations and piping estimates.Developing conceptual layouts and cost studies as necessary to determine the simplest, most efficient approach to solving engineering tasks at hand.Producing estimate level preliminary designs and material take-offs suitable for the level of the estimate being performed on a project.Producing detail design calculations and sketches for materials of construction associated with the project. Calculations produced will be neatly prepared and organized for efficient checking by others and efficient use by drafters/designers for preparing drawings and as a deliverable when required.Assisting the drafting group in resolving routine layout and detailing problems.Consulting with design leaders from other disciplines to ensure the smooth flow of vital information necessary for the scheduled completion of the project.Reviewing and checking vendor drawings and other discipline drawings for mechanical input.Assist with flexibility and stress analysis of piping systems.Assist in selecting piping specialty items.Below is the range that we in good faith believe is the potential compensation for this role at the time of this posting and is only applicable for jobs to be performed in California. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Hargrove’s total compensation package for Teammates. Actual compensation will be based on education, experience, skill set and location.Minimum Salary: $124,800 annuallyMaximum Salary: $208,000 annuallyIdeal BackgroundEducation: Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university is required.Registration: Engineer in Training (EIT) registration is strongly preferred.
