The US AML Transformation, Delivery, and Insights Team (TDI) reports US AML Department within Risk Management. The goal of the team is to transform the CIBC AML department with new technologies, solutions, and deliver insights. The team is looking for dedicated individuals that have a passion for learning new technologies and being part of an expanding AML department. Our risk world is continuously evolving, and members of the team are valued for their skills and their out of the box thinking.

This position is for the TDI Data Governance Manager. The role will focus on improving data governance and the use of data with US AML and will help design, evolve, and scale the data governance framework, including the approach, processes, policies, technology, procedures, and assessing gaps in our data infrastructure that impact US AML and Sanctions.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Contribute towards strategic planning for AML and Sanctions data governance function. May manage or progress towards managing other professional individual contributors.
  • Design and monitor data quality processes and execute monitoring and oversight activities to ensure that data is sourced from reliable and trustworthy sources.
  • Assist in the development and execution of the Data Governance Strategy for AML.
  • Coordinate with data stewards to create data controls, identify measurement definitions, and manage using dashboards.
  • Implement enterprise data policy for governing data and actively measure compliance to the data policy for critical data and reports.
  • Develop SQL reports, visual dashboards, and other processes to monitor data completeness and quality within AML and Sanctions data.
  • Define, document, and maintain data definitions, CDEs, descriptions, set values, quality rules, and calculations in the business glossary.
  • Establish and maintain programs to monitor and measure data governance adoption and achievements.
  • Document and maintain data governance roles, activities, maintain logs, and record issues and corresponding resolutions.
  • Support AML teams with data policies and attestations.
  • Collaborate with data stewards, data custodians, and other report developers to ensure consistent and accurate use of data.
  • Collaborate with the Business and Information Technology to prioritize and resolve data sourcing, business rules, data aggregation, data distribution, and data consumption issues.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Information Systems or Business Administration. Master’s Degree in a related field is strongly desired.
  • Minimum 5 years of banking experience, preferably in a regulatory environment.
  • 3 plus years’ experience working with AML and Sanctions data, reporting, KPIs and dashboards.
  • 3 plus years’ proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., SAS, SQL, or similar) and visualization tools (SAS, Tableau or similar).
  • Knowledge of information access and delivery methods, analytics applications and tool portfolio, data sourcing and integration methods. Understanding of data warehouse, ETL, data cleansing, and architecture.
  • Understanding of AML and Sanctions program functions, systems as transaction monitoring, sanctions and customer risk rating and associated data.
  • Experience working and effectively collaborating with reporting, operations and technology teams.
  • Familiarity with operational and support environment issues.
  • Must be driven, operationally savvy, action-oriented who continually strives for improvement.
  • Strong critical thinking ability and problem resolution skills.
  • Ability to work independently with light to moderate supervision in various areas of responsibility.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, verbal/written communication skills and strong project management skills.
  • Highly motivated and committed, capable of working in a dynamic environment with aggressive timelines, multiple work streams running in parallel.
