POSITION SUMMARY:


The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for manufacturing processes from concept development through start of production.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Researches and develops tools, processes, machines and equipment to integrate the facilities and systems for producing quality products with the optimum expenditure of capital.
  • Assures conformance to specification, evaluates cycle time, assesses safety and ergonomics and conducts process capability studies prior to release to production.
  • Responsible for creation of initial core tooling insuring all items identified in DFMEA are properly cascaded to PFEMA, Control Plan, and Special Characteristic agreement.
  • Improves work efficiency by analyzing downtime and identifying strength and weaknesses of existing manufacturing processes.
  • Generates and maintains line documentation including Process Flow Charts, PFMEA, Control Plans, Work Standards and check sheets for line members and technicians.
  • Responsible for conducting machinery run-off/buy-off' for purchased machinery and tooling.
  • Supports cost savings by analyzing scrap and find solutions to reduce waste.
  • Participates in continuous improvement activities as they relate to machinery and tooling issues.
  • Participates in cross functional meetings (i.e. layouts, APQP activities, continuous improvement opportunities etc.)
  • Supports and participates in EHS objectives
  • Other duties as assigned.


EDUCATION AND EXPERINCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field required.
  • Knowledge in dynamics, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, system design, HVAC, machine design and manufacturing design-usually obtained through experience or course work.
  • Computer skills including AutoCAD, Power Point, Excel, Word.
  • Have working knowledge of TS standards, AIAG Standards (PFMEA, APQP, MSA, CQI-9), Phased PPAP, ES Specifications and other customer specific requirements preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills & ability to work in a team environment.
  • Strong project management skills.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Office Work Environment
  • Plant work environment with fluctuations in temperature (hotter in the summer, cooler in the winter). Exposure to certain noise levels and bright lights.
  • Required to wear company-issued personal protective equipment.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Lifting up to 50 lbs. with assistance.
  • Standing /Walking for extended periods.
  • Sitting for extended periods.
  • Frequent bending, reaching with arms forward/above the shoulders.
  • Ability to stay focused for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Ability to analyze information, identify problems.
