Job Description - Full time Faculty - School of Nursing (3310905)

The MGH Institute of Health Professions is seeking a qualified candidate for a full-time faculty position in the School of Nursing. The role entails comprehensive responsibilities, including the design, management, teaching, and evaluation of both didactic and clinical nursing courses. Specific areas of focus include medical-surgical nursing, leadership, and senior-level transition to practice courses. In addition to course responsibilities, the candidate will provide general academic advising, engage in professional and service activities, and contribute to scholarship appropriate to the level of appointment. This position offers an opportunity to influence the next generation of nursing professionals while collaborating with a team dedicated to academic excellence and innovation in healthcare education.

Time spent in the areas below are negotiated between the Academic Unit Leader and individual faculty members:

Teaching: 50%

  • Teaches within or across programs as appropriate to area of expertise and program needs.
  • Evaluates student achievement of nursing competencies appropriate to the program and level of student learning.
  • Participates in the development, evaluation, and revision of the nursing curriculum plan.

Service: 30%

  • Serves on Department, School and Institute Committees and participates in professional activities, student advising, and department and Institute events.
  • Participates in SON and IHP governance, which includes the development, implementation, and evaluation of policies.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of a systematic evaluation plan that encompasses all components of the program.
  • Identifies an area of scholarship as outlined in the IHP Scholarship Model.
  • Participates in scholarship activities within their identified domain commensurate with level of appointment.

WORK CONDITIONS:

  • Faculty member assumes all responsibilities in being an active and contributing member to the school.
  • Faculty member will need to be flexible with schedule, able to prioritize and self-monitor, work collaboratively with others (including in interprofessional teams), and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

EDUCATION:

  • A candidate must hold a current Massachusetts Registered Nurse license in good standing and possess a Master of Science in Nursing.
  • Candidates must possess a minimum of two years of full-time nursing experience, or its equivalent within the past five years.
  • Candidates must show evidence of experience appropriate to their area of teaching and be certified in an area of specialization as required for faculty appointment at the Advanced Practice level.
  • Seeking candidates whose teaching, scholarship, service or life experience has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to diversity and inclusion in higher education and are committed to mentoring members of underrepresented groups.
  • A doctoral degree is preferred.
