Position:

We are in search of a highly motivated and talented Senior Research Associate with a background in membrane protein expression, purification and analysis.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or Master’s  degree in biochemistry, structural biology or molecular biology.
  • At least 5 years hands-on experience in protein purification and molecular biology.
  • Experience with protein purification/analysis methods such as SEC, IMAC, ion exchange chromatography, dialysis, SDS-PAGE is required.
  • Prior experience with cryo-EM and membrane proteins purification such as GPCRs, ion channels, or transporters is strongly preferred, but not required.
  • Proficiency with cloning and using basic molecular biology techniques (PCR, restriction enzymes and/or ligation-independent methods).
  • Demonstrated capabilities to independently design, implement, and troubleshoot experimental work in a laboratory.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently execute small and large-scale purification strategies for recombinant membrane and soluble proteins, with guidance on addressing complex challenges and optimizing protocols as needed.
  • Independently perform biophysical characterization of purified proteins using multiple methods and instruments (FPLC, HPLC, DLS, DSF, etc).
  • Refine and optimize purification protocols, while addressing challenges that arise.
  • Independently design and execute DNA cloning, transformation of various microorganisms.
  • Ability to work in a highly interactive and multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Operate and maintain the relevant equipment.
  • Manage parallel processing of extensive sample sets.
  • Support the organization by producing high-quality and reliable data.
  • Maintain close collaborative interactions with colleagues within the research group, and regularly communicate progress to the team or supervisors.
