Duties:
- Prepare food for service (e.g. chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces)
- Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff by reading and following standardized recipe and directions.
- Answer, report and follow executive or sous chef's instructions.
- Clean up station, then label and store leftover food
- Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion.
- Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards.
- Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers.
- Measure and assemble ingredients for menu items.
- Collaborate with the Executive Chef/Sous Chef and Cooks to prepare meals during our dining hours.
- Properly store food items at appropriate temperatures
- Rotate food inventory as required by established procedures.
- Restock kitchen for subsequent shifts.
- Ensure that the food prep area and kitchen are cleaned and sanitized at the end of your shift.
- Substitute for or assist other cooks during emergencies or rush periods.
- Inspect food preparation and serving areas to ensure observance of safe, sanitary food-handling practices.
- Follow Safety Rules and Standards
- Work schedule will vary but shifts will be weekdays and weekends ranging from 11am-8pm. Holidays may be required.
- 1 year or more cooking experience in a professional setting
- SERV Safe Certification preferred (candidate must successfully complete food handler certification within the first 30 days of employment)
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Ability to work quickly in a professional kitchen with the knowledge of how to read and mix for food service items, use commercial kitchen equipment and check thermometers correctly and accurately
- Ability to work in both cold and hot environments
- Must be a US or Naturalized Citizen over age 18
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English
- Ability to work independently without supervision
- Must pass a background investigation and physical exam
- Detail-oriented -- quality and precision-focused
- Team-oriented -- cooperative and collaborative
- Must be punctual and have great attendance
