What you'll do

The Document Management team is responsible for providing foundational services for document management across all Docusign products, including document conversion, document processing, document upload and download, among others. As the Senior Engineering Manager for this team, you will lead the design, development, and delivery of scalable document management solutions, ensuring high-quality performance and reliability. You will drive innovation, mentor and develop engineering talent, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to align technical initiatives with business objectives. This role requires a hands-on technical leader with exceptional leadership and communication skills as well as a passion for building teams that value ownership, transparency and collaboration.

This position is a people manager role reporting to the Director of Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Execute our product roadmap using agile practices and champion the culture, processes, and tools required to maintain a frictionless high-quality development environment.
• Deliver products that delight customers while managing the health of the code base through continuous refactoring and management of technical debt.
• Provide coaching and leadership in software best practices, automated test strategies, and work toward flattening the cost of change curve for our software products and services.
• Lead a team of engineers at various stages of their career, actively investing in their growth and development.
• Cultivate an open, collaborative, and fun work environment for yourself and your team.
• Work closely with product, design, security, customer success, and other teams to provide technical expertise throughout all phases of product development.
• Obsess over great user experience; partner with product management, engineering, sales, operations, and other parts of the business.

Job Designation
Hybrid: Employee divides their time between in-office and remote work. Access to an office location is required (Frequency: Minimum 2 days per week; may vary by team but will be weekly in-office expectation).

What you bring
Basic

• 8+ years of combined software development and management experience across at least 3 languages or paradigms, and frameworks or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of hands-on software development or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of managing software organizations over 25 people or equivalent experience.
• Experience with highly scalable, high-volume distributed systems and services with top-tier resiliency, availability (five nines), and performance.
• Experience with large complex data ecosystems and data quality and lifecycle issues.
• Experience with SaaS or Cloud.

Preferred

• Passion for continuous improvement.
• A demonstrated track record of building high performing, secure applications and integrating security into the DNA of products.
• Experience building an integrations platform/infrastructure to seamlessly integrate 3rd party applications.
• A demonstrated track record leading geographically dispersed teams.
• Experience with full stack SaaS development.

Wage Transparency
Pay for this position is based on a number of factors including geographic location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Based on applicable legislation, the below details pay ranges in the following locations:
California: $171,500 - $277,025 base salary. This role is also eligible for bonus, equity, and benefits.
