POSITION SUMMARY:
Position is responsible for the oversight of case plan development, implementation and evaluation to enrolled Puyallup Tribal children who are found to be children in need of care through the Puyallup Tribal Court. Facilitates family reunification or other permanent placement planning as deemed necessary by the Tribal Court. Initiates life-changing decisions based solely on the best interest of the children.
Supervises Child Welfare Caseworkers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provide guidance, support and structure to Caseworkers to ensure all duties are performed with adherence to 7.04 Child and Family Protection Code.
2. Provide all case consultation and oversight consistent with the Solution-Based Casework model.
3. Reviews and signs off on all caseworker court reports, Filings of Information, PTICWAC reports and sends to Director for final signature.
4. Assures monthly data reporting is completed by direct reports accurately and on time.
5. Ensure that Social Workers document all case activities and information gathered through use of the Solution-Based Casework model.
6. Complete all required supervisory documentation within the case file and One Tribe electronic record.
7. Aid the workers in organizing field and office work.
8. Provide case consultation to Caseworkers in decision making.
9. Accept and assign cases.
10. Performs quality assurance on case file documentation, case management and payment initiation.
11. Participate in supervisory, administrative and individual meetings and conferences.
12. Back up Caseworker when needed.
13. Leads Caseworker meetings and is responsible for maintaining the case roster.
14. Testifies and presents CWS case plan as needed in tribal hearings.
15. Reviews comprehensive reports and affidavits for court filing.
16. Available for after-hours supervision and support as needed.
17. Promptly follows up with supervisor on concerns with staff, cases, etc. and initiates appropriate actions if requested.
18. Maintains and ensures extreme level of confidentiality and appropriate professional boundaries regarding client.
19. Prioritize workload based on client needs.
20. Adheres to the Child and Family Protection Code; Duty to Report Child Abuse and Neglect.
21. Participates in departmental staff meetings and trainings.
22. Will continuously engage in professional development including but not limited to, cross training throughout the department and keeping up with the latest trends and best practices of child welfare service delivery.
23. Participate in departmental community outreach.
24. Performs other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Position will act as the direct supervisor of the Child Welfare Caseworkers and Extended Support Services Caseworkers. Responsible for training, assigning cases, and will serve as a resource to Caseworkers and others within the department.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Puyallup Tribe of Indians personnel policies and procedures, and all applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, coaching and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding, recognizing and counseling employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Education and/or Experience
MSW or Master's degree (M.A.) in related field, from an accredited four-year college or university is required and three years of experience in child welfare case management required. Understanding/experience of CPS investigation work also preferred. Intermediate word processing skills (Microsoft Word) is required. Knowledge and experience using spreadsheet applications (Microsoft Excel) is required.
Note: Part-time work is prorated in crediting experience (e.g., if you work 20 hours per week for a 12-month period you will be credited with 6 months of experience).
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Licenses Or Certificates
Must have and maintain a valid and unrestricted Washington State driver's license and proof of insurance.
Must have and maintain a current First Aid and CPR certification and HIV/AIDS training certificate.
Must pass Washington State DSHS criminal history and CPS background inquiry every two years unless otherwise indicated.
Willing to attend training for professional development.
Other Skills and Abilities
Must pass tuberculosis test.
Must be available on nights and weekends.
