Brief Description

The Payroll Associate is responsible for performing all payroll tax activities and ensuring compliance of all federal, state and local tax withholdings, complete all tax returns and meet all tax federal, state and local state requirements. This position works under the direction of the Payroll Manager.

Detailed Description:

  • Ensure compliance with and maintain all documentation associated with federal, state and local tax withholdings.

  • Complete and submit federal, state and local payroll tax returns.

  • Reconcile tax withholding accounts.

  • Remit tax withholdings

  • Process W2s

  • Coordinate with other team members to calculate and calculation and report tax liabilities.

  • Respond to questions and special requests from employees and regulatory agencies.

  • Research laws and regulations regarding tax and payroll withholding procedures.

  • Prepare reports for senior management as needed.

  • Reconcile tax balances and reports within the accounting software.

  • Test software for update patches in Oracle as required.

Job Requirements:

  • Knowledge and understanding of corporate payroll processing systems and able to meet stringent deadlines.

  • Excellent computer skills to include various accounting business systems, external customer applications, and advanced experience in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) with emphasis in Excel.

  • Intricate attention to detail and accuracy, dependable, efficient, organized requiring little supervision are imperative.

  • Ability to maintain Company confidentiality at all times, handle sensitive information and protect Company proprietary information in an appropriate manner. Maintain an extreme level of trust and confidentiality.

  • Ability to analyze data to understand trends and impacts for all items related to payroll.

  • Able to maintain a positive attitude in a dynamic, fast paced office environment

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate and provide information to all levels outside and within the organization, including executive management.

  • Strong time management skills required; ability to prioritize, reprioritize, multitask and be flexible.

  • Self-driven, strong decision-making ability and a mature perspective.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field of study.

  • 2+ years' experience in a Payroll

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ years' experience in payroll tax

  • Oil & Gas Industry experience.

  • Oracle HCM or Cloud based payroll applications.

Additional Details:

Work is primarily in a climate controlled / office environment with minimal safety / health hazard potential. The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, or walk with occasional lifting (overhead, waist level) from floor, bending and frequent near vision use for reading and use of computer, telephone, and other office equipment.
