The Geoff Hill Lab, in Fred Hutch's Translational Science & Therapeutics Division, is recruiting a Scientist / Senior Scientist with expertise in transplant immunology and/or immunotherapy. The candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to multiple NIH funded research programs, including studies defining the mechanisms of cancer-specific immunity versus immune escape and pathogen-specific immunity after adoptive cell therapy. There are also active programs defining mechanisms of, and innovative treatment paradigms for immune toxicity (e.g. graft-versus-host disease and cytokine release syndrome) after stem cell transplantation and adoptive T cell therapy.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities for this highly-skilled laboratory scientist will include: designing, performing and analyzing experiments, troubleshooting technical issues and mentoring junior lab members. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the preparation of manuscripts and grant proposals and oversee large programs that include collaborating laboratories.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR STAFF SCIENTIST:

  • MD or PhD degree in Immunology or related field.
  • Four (4) or more years of post-Ph.D. laboratory experience.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR SENIOR STAFF SCIENTIST:

  • MD or PhD degree in Immunology in related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience at Fred Hutch or, have a minimum of 5 years of unique expertise and extensive experience at other academic institutions or in private industry.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Working knowledge of transplant and cancer immunology.
  • Experience with technologies used in the lab, including mouse models, high parameter flow cytometry and single-cell RNA sequencing.
  • Technical experience includes:
    • Cellular immunology, including high dimensional flow cytometry
    • Mouse models of experimentation
    • Correlative human immunology analyses
    • RNA-sequencing
  • Track record of high impact publications and some prior success in grant applications.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and reliable record-keeping.
  • Ability to design and execute protocols, and work independently including experimental troubleshooting.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for working with other lab members and productive interactions with collaborators.

The annual base salary range for the Senior Staff Scientist is from $94,033 to $212,030 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.

The annual base salary range for the Staff Scientist position is from $82,123 to $185,000 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
