The Opportunity

Hyatt seeks an extraordinary data scientist to help build the algorithmic assets and features that Hyatt guests, members, customers, and internal users leverage to transform the guest experience and drive efficiencies across the operations of our business. In this role, you will have the opportunity to lead a growing portfolio of data science products within the Decision Science function, such as Search Ranking. The Role

  • Lead a variety of algorithmic product implementations leveraging core algorithmic data science, ML, and AI capabilities to drive measurable business impact.
  • Hands-on developer of internal models/processes such as machine learning models, numerical optimization, statistical significance testing, ML-as-a-service API development, and streaming event data processing.
  • Manage other data scientists and be accountable for the research agenda and value delivery of algorithmic products.
  • Stay up to date with the latest data science research and how it can be applied to Hyatt’s business. Conduct research review and internal presentation sessions as appropriate.
  • Provide guidance and recommendations on appropriate system solutions, modeling approaches, and associated risks for a variety of business problems.
  • Work collaboratively with other data scientists, business partners, and ML engineers to ensure proper execution/integration of algorithmic products.
  • Report on incremental business impact with a commitment to ethical data science.
  • Demonstrate holistic thinking, strategic agility, and leadership at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to Hyatt's core values.

Qualifications

Experience:

  • Master’s degree in computer science, statistics, or related fields required. PhD preferred.
  • 7+ years of data science experience with a focus on algorithmic product development, with a history of successfully driving measurable business impact. Hospitality experience is not required.
  • Expertise in Python, SQL, and Spark. Additional software experience preferred i.e., Docker.
  • Expertise in a broad array of machine learning frameworks (Scikit-Learn, XGBoost, Tensorflow, PyTorch, MXNet, etc).
  • Expertise with Recommender Systems (Collaborative filtering, Reinforcement Learning, Ranking, Candidate Generation, MIP Optimization, etc.).
  • Experience implementing Search Ranking algorithms with measurable business impact preferred.
  • Experience formulating and managing impact-focused research agendas in Decision Science.
  • Experience managing (accountable, responsible) multiple Decision Science products, including both people management and hands-on implementation.
  • Experience operating on AWS with large datasets.
  • Experience with streaming data architectures.
  • Experience operating in an Agile Methodology environment.
  • Experience with DevOps and CI/CD concepts.
  • Publication track record in major peer-reviewed journals preferred.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
