Job Summary

This position reports directly to the Operations Finance Manager and is responsible for the direct supervision of four Financial Analyst III positions. The individual independently organizes and determines work priorities to accommodate all deadlines for the incumbent and direct reports. Direct supervision of reports as well as review, approval, and evaluation of their work is included in this position. Responsible for accurately maintaining extensive files, including back-up documentation for all transactions by project, chart string, faculty, and/or division, and approving transactions submitted by direct reports.
Works directly with the Department CAO and Finance Manager to assist with developing and implementing the annual operating budget for a large complex department with $80 million in various funds that flow through the operational chart strings (15001). The Department receives and manages 36 FTEs (13U00) and program COFI funds that function as block grants. This position gathers and analyzes financial data from a variety of revenue and expense streams to prepare a comprehensive and accurate budget. Using financial data to make reasonable conclusions in daily responsibilities.
This position requires an in-depth knowledge of the University, campus, and UCDHS fiscal and accounting policies, procedures, practices, and organizational processes.
This position will also provide back-up support for the Department's Financial Report and provide support to the fiscal management of the 340B HTC Program which includes approximately 20M+ in revenue and expenses. #CA-SB

Minimum Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • Must have 2 years of experience managing operating funds or extramural portfolio management.
  • Financial and business management skills and experience in performing extensive in-depth budgetary and financial analyses.
  • Demonstrated experience and working knowledge of financial policies, systems, budgetary cycles, personnel/payroll practices, business agreements, and/or similarly complex administrative systems.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles with diverse fund restrictions, fund accounting and research-related accounting.
  • Demonstrated experience and working knowledge of financial, budget, and payroll systems or similarly complex administrative systems.
  • Demonstrated experience using financial information systems such as Aggie Enterprise, Aggie Enterprise Planning, UC Path, Ecotime, Cognos, and Tableau.
  • Advanced knowledge of software programs such as MS Office: Excel, Word, Adobe Acrobat, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Leadership or Supervisory experience.
  • *Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, or closely related field. Knowledge of higher education research and fund accounting.

The Department of Internal Medicine is one of 19 clinical departments within the UC Davis School of Medicine. As the largest clinical department, Internal Medicine comprises 13 divisions.
Under the supervision of the Operations Finance Manager, this position serves as a team leader, overseeing the day-to day operating fund management. This position provides financial and analytical support in all areas of fiscal management related to operating funding for the Department of Internal Medicine.
