Director Corporate Tax
Position Summary:
The Director Corporate Tax leads the JetBlue Tax team to ensure the accuracy of all tax functions. The Director oversees all tax (excluding payroll); compliance, accounting, forecasting, research and planning, required to meet the Company's tax obligations and to minimize liabilities.
The Director is a key member of the Controller's Group leadership team that is dedicated to the accurate execution of initiatives in support of the Corporate Strategy. The Director is comfortable maintaining a public profile and presenting in front of large groups, and enjoys interacting daily with people at different levels within the organization. The Director thrives in a non-routine work environment and must be able to assume primary responsibility for completing tasks under pressure and time constraints. The Director uses appropriate interpersonal styles to influence others and is an effective leader whose personal values match JetBlue's values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion, and Fun .
Essential Responsibilities:
- Serve as a key technical resource for all tax functions
- Ensure tax compliance and accounting requirements are accurately and timely met
- Direct tax planning initiatives to support and align with the Corporate Strategy
- Ensure significant tax positions are properly researched and documented
- Oversee and manage taxing authority and internal/external financial audits
- Maintain proper controls over tax accounting and reporting applications and processes
- Ensure the forecast for taxes is timely updated
- Partner, manage and develop cross-functional relationships with internal stakeholders
- Partner and manage the relationship with external advisors
- Forge strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, including senior leadership, external business partners, and industry groups
- Attract, motivate, develop and retain a high performing team
- Take a significant role in the development of crewmembers to support the engagement, growth, goal achievement and development of the succession plan and the department
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Experience and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Tax, Finance, or a related field; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a combination of a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous relevant work experience
- Seven (7) years of corporate tax experience, including in-depth knowledge of income tax accounting (ASC 740 and FIN 48), tax research systems and internal controls
- Five (5) years of leadership experience
- Available for occasional overnight travel (10%)
- Strong speaking and written skills
- Ability to establish credibility and to be decisive
- Project management experience
- Ability to drive cross-functional collaboration
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test
- Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
- Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship
Preferred Experiences and Qualifications:
- Master's in Taxation or Certification as a Public Accountant (CPA)
- Twelve - fifteen (12-15) years of corporate tax experience, including in-depth knowledge of income tax accounting (ASC 740 and FIN 48), tax research systems and internal controls
- Airline taxation, excise taxation, and income tax compliance experience
- Broad accounting and finance experience
- Establishing relationships with leaders across the organization
- Establishing relationships with outside tax advisors and government auditors
- Leading a large diverse team

- Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
- Able to maintain a professional appearance
- When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

- Must fulfill safety accountabilities as prescribed by JetBlue's Safety Management System

- Identify safety and/or security concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue's confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report (SAR))
- Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls
- Uphold JetBlue's safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities
- The use of ChatGPT or any other automated tool during the interview process will disqualify a candidate from being considered for the position

Compensation:
- The base pay range for this position is between $200,000.00 and $250,000.00 per year. Base pay is one component of JetBlue's total compensation package, which may also include performance bonuses, restricted stock units, as well as access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
