This position focuses on cultivating a positive online presence, engaging alumni, donors, parents, and the broader community, and promoting philanthropic opportunities. The successful candidate will combine creative flair with strategic thinking to drive engagement and support for the university’s fundraising efforts.ResponsibilitiesSocial Media Strategy:With the Director of Annual Giving, develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy aligned with University Advancement goals.Identify and implement innovative approaches to increase the university’s visibility and engagement on various social media platforms.Content Creation:Create compelling, on-brand content that highlights philanthropic initiatives, success stories, and impact.Collaborate with university partners to gather content, ensuring accurate representation of philanthropic efforts.Community Engagement:Foster a sense of community and engagement among alumni, donors, parents, students, and other stakeholders through social media channels.Respond to comments, messages, and mentions in a timely and professional manner.Campaign Promotion:Strategically promote fundraising campaigns, events, and initiatives through social media to maximize participation and contributions.Collaborate with the Director of Annual Giving to align social media efforts with broader marketing campaigns.Analytics and Reporting:Monitor and analyze social media metrics to measure the effectiveness of campaigns and identify areas for improvement.Provide regular reports on social media performance and insights to inform future strategies.Collaboration:Work closely with colleagues in the University Advancement team, as well as other university departments, to ensure a coordinated and integrated approach to social media.Stay Current with Trends:Stay informed about social media trends, best practices, and emerging platforms to continually enhance University Advancement’s online presence.Minimum QualificationsCurrent University of Utah student majoring in communication or related field.Strong understanding of social media platforms, trends, and best practices.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Basic experience using Canva, InDesign, or some design software.Creative mindset with the ability to generate engaging content.Experience with social media analytics and reporting tools.Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.Special Instructions : Please upload examples of work (2-3) and/or a portfolio under “Applicant Document – Other”PreferencesSpecial Instructions SummaryAdditional InformationThe University is a participating employer with Utah Retirement Systems (“URS”).
